In posting this, I will tell you up front that I am insurance agent of nearly 40 years experience. Because of my age and physical condition, I am having a great deal of trouble trying to pay for my own insurance. At the same time, the company has paid several large bills for me and my family over the years. That kind of quality does not come cheaply.

If you respond to an email solicitation from someone you know nothing about and who may not be subject to regulation by the State where you live, you are giving up a lot of protection. What appears to be low cost insurance may turn out to be the most expensive "bargain" you ever got if you get stuck with high medical bills and no practical way to recover from the bargain basement plan you got over the internet.

I strongly suggest that before you buy into any plan offered over the internet (I just got one from MedLifePlus.), you at least contact your State's bureau of insurance and find out whether the seller is subject to regulation by your State government. If it is not, you would best keep your money (or your credit cards) in your pocket.

Your safest bet is probably to see an agent who lives in your town and who has several years of experience in dealing with health insurance. His or her plan(s) will probably be more costly than what is being offered on the 'Net, but will probably be worth a great deal more when the claims begin to come in - as they will, at some point, if you live long enough.

Rember the old saw: If it sounds too good to be true - it probably is!

when you don't have insurance... $19 is a STEAL for discounted dental, medical, doctor, and pharmacy coverage... what do you guys suggest is better??

i was paying almost $80 a month for insurance at my last company and i never used it!!! did i get it back??? noooo... THAT is a scam if you ask me.... April,
Did you actually make an appointment? Did you call the 45 doctors that were listed on the website? I have spent 6 hours trying to make a doctors appointment. I asked for a list of participating physicians....they would only give me one. I went to the website and called back, only this time I went to the providers services because I felt they would know who was participating. As I read the list of physicians from the website none were still on the plan. However, the agent said she had a long list of physicians in my area.....but she could not give me the list. Again I was told to pick a provider and call them back to see if that provider was active. How can I pick a provider if they won't give me a list? Am I expected to call every physician in Phoenix to see if they are providers? I tried to go up the chain of command but got nowhere. I finally decided to schedule an appointment with the one physician they referred me to and guess what, they are no longer providers as of January. I am livid and wish I had found this site before doing such a studip thing as to sign up for this plan.
I will be notifying the better business bureau and anyone else I can contact to put these people out of business.

Try Ameriplan USA. It's better than paying a full price for a dentist
visit. I pay 20 dollars a month and that covers all 6 family members.
I get discounts from dental, prescription drugs etc. I'am not a sales
person but a happy member of "Ameriplan USA".

These guys are a bunck of rotten crooks.

They charged our account without any authorization and we have excelent insurance already. I tried calling them two different times, and they send me in a whild goose chase, citing that they had papers that were signed(we didnt get any confirmation) the cut me off the last time when I tried to cancel.

Extremely shady business, I am surprised they are even allowed to run. Going to dispute all the charges through my bank.

Stay away very very shady.

During the election, I clicked to "Vote for Bush or Kerry," which took me to a website promising a $50 Visa card to take a survey. After the survey, the $50 Visa card additionally required signing up for one of the sponsoring promotions. I agreed to pay $1 for a one-month MedLife Plus membership that could be terminated by writing the above address or else I would incur future $19 per month billings. I never used the membership and successfully terminated it before incurring future bills. I never received the promotional $50 Visa card, even though I contacted Med Life and was assured "orders were just behind," promising the card would be sent.

I stayed with MedLife Plus despite the fact that the majority of their doctors listed were just listed and not members. My doctor did not recognize the plan but my daughter in law found one after hours of calling doctors. However, my problems started when my wallet was stolen. Despite their saying they had sent replacement cards several times I never received one. My pharmacist would not accept my email citing that I had requested a new card and an older paper card, so I did not benefit. I did not get the minimal discount, had no card, yet continued to pay for the plan.

The day I first tried to cancel I had some apprehension about doing so They claim I said I did not want to cancel; apparently that was recorded but not the retraction call saying that I indeed wanted to cancel. This was after I noticed the payment had been taken out not once but twice, I emailed citing the fact that Hurricane Rita had disrupted our lives (fortunately we were not involved but packed up and relocated for a few days) so calling them re their not cancelling was not a priority. After the last payment was withdrawn I emailed requesting a refund which was denied. Since I had read complaints that others had payments taken out for months after cancelling, I called dispute resolution at my bank as I had no response to a series of emails to confirm cancellation . The bank told me to call them and request a cancellation # which I got.

Having no insurance is distressing. I enrolled as it offered some assistance. However, the customer service is not always the best, sometimes condescending and slow.
