reading your online resume

Hello,

I recently viewed your resume online and I feel you might be perfect for a position our company is seeking to fill in your local area. We are a company that promotes actors, models, and musicians within the entertainment industry.

We are looking for a Talent Scout to identify potential actors, models, and musicians in your local area. Even though you do not have direct experience in this field, I feel your background would allow you to be a successful scout.

We offer the following:

Base Salary, Commission, and Bonuses that total $60 - $100k per year
Top benefits package
Rapid Advancement Opportunities
Tuition reimbursement program
Paid Vacations and Holidays

We are not a service that charges talent an upfront fee to enroll. Our talent only pay for bookings that they accept. Our headquarters are in NY, and we are in the midst of an international expansion program (you would work in your local area).

If you have a love of the entertainment industry (acting, modeling, or music), would like to help aspiring talent get started in the industry, like dealing with people, and you are willing to put 100% into your career, we might have a good match.

To apply for the position please click the link below and fill out our online application. Once I have received your application I will follow up with you directly. We also have part-time positions available.

Impact210 really does seem to exist as a verifiable company, although a it's recent start-up.

I'd be cautious here about saying "yeah, this is another scam outfit" because you'll note that the job applications do *not* actually go through Impact210's sites, but instead are recently registered domains on a completely different server.

There's a lot of cut-throat rivalry between certain modelling operators, and people who will use any technique they can to bring down a rival, no matter how underhand. This could simply be a "joe job" to dirty a competitor's name.

So, I'd be extremely suspicious of this job offer because it seems to good to be true, the domains listed are very recently registered, the application site definitely looks like a lead generator so you can be spammed to death. I can't see a definitely connection between the "application" domains and the verifiable business domains.

I just got this e-mail from them today, except my came from someone named Gillian Wahn. I am glad that this site popped up in it's place so I know now it was a scam. I was just wondering how often this happen on CareerBuilders? Thank you for this site...good to have this kind of knowledge.

I received the same e-mail, twice, from "Liz Morgan", on the same day (Oct 20). It referred to my CareerBuilder resume as well.
EDIT: Actually, in the headers they both say that it's from "Bill Chozo <CandidateEmail@site.careerbuilder.com>", and the Reply-to is bchozo@americanbusinesswebsite.com, but the body content is signed "Liz Morgan", as with the one posted at the start of this thread.

I have gotten several e-mail from some of the other phishing schemes based on my online resume posting, and have confirmed that they are scams thanks to your forum. (Thanks again!)

So I was curious about this one, since it had some stuff in common with the others (big salary claims, a business unrelated to my resume, a fishy looking URL, etc.) but I hadn't seen this particular one before. It doesn't seem to be connected to the usual suspects.

Seeing it appear here at all definitely says something. Thank you, Dynamoo, for what you have posted so far.

If anyone has any more clues about this one, please let me know.

Right now I'm going to pretty much ignore this one.

I received a similar email, and forwarded it to Image 210 in New York will post soon as they reply to me.

I also received employmentwire emails. Someone posted an address on LBJ Freeway in Dallas. I went on an interview to the same address that was posted on a previous post. 3010 LBJ, suite 1200. They are looking to recruit travel people, with a background in the business I know that you don't need to pay to be a agent. It makes me wonder if this is another scam being run. They lie and say its a paying job, you get there and they want bank info to deduct money haha not!

I really need to know what to do now...because they have my info! Please help me! Obviously I will turn down the job! But if they call or something...what do I say to them to let them know that I know they are a scam and not to use my information. I am screwed. Please help or give suggestions...did anyone else accidentally fill out the application

MODELS BEWARE!!
Impact210 is an apalling operation being run
by the notorious ...Michael Fomkin a scam artist implicated in the Wilhelmina Scouting Network, and One Source Talent rip-offs The fact that these losers
infiltrated SOHO, a mecca for aspiring talent, is an
absolute insult to the modeling industry. This is
nothing more than the traditional photo mill/multi-level
marketing scheme that has plagued the industry
for years.
Career seekers are wrapped into a scouting
operation where they roam the streets looking for
potential models to invite to one of the many "open"
calls" that Impact210 hosts. Scouts, who are hired
after a 2 min. interview, are paid $20 per each person
they bring through the door. New employees are not
even given business cards but instead "invitations"
(which 50% of the cost is deducted from their
"paycheck"...they are promised rapid advancement in the company...it is a complete lie!
If these so-called scouts do not quit after a couple of days or weeks, be sure they will be fired before they reach their 90 day mark by Michael Fomkin, that is so he will not have to give them their cell phone allowance or medical benefits, that is why their are always job posting for talent scouts, so the next bach of scouts can come in...he is not only scamming on potential models, but on his employees as well...he really gets off on firing people...he is on a total power trip...of course he is not alone he has assembled a great team of idiots to jump on board, they include Brian Wilson "director of operations", Cortney Sells "the vice president" and Jasmine Walton "model manager"...all these people worked for One Source Talent, they are pros at this...selling innocent hopefuls a dream...
The "open calls" are where the models are
"evaluated" by the Impact210 "executives." Nearly all
of the models, regardless of talent level, were told
that they were a good fit for the company and invited
back for a second interview. It is at these interviews
that models are pitched outlandish portfolio packages ranging from $395-$1200, and told that they need to pay for the pictures
themselves before they can be signed. Even some models
or actors that were signed, were working as scouts and
managers (I guess there were not any gigs available).
Gigs that any individual can find themselves, they do not work with exclusive clients...all they do is repost castings from other websites such as craigslist.org, one model place and even one source talent!! of course for a monthly hosting fee of $19.95 you to can have access to these castings =)and if you want to take it one step further for $29.95/month you can have your own domain name...and if they can't get you on that...there are always workshops that you can sign up for, or comp cards that you need...basically they make sure you walk out with something...it is a mind game....
Do not be fooled these people will stop at nothing, it is the same scam, with a different name...check out the site www.impact210.com if you read their profiles it says nothing about their backgrounds...i am appalled that these scams are out there...if enough people get together and spread the word out, many more people will be aware...unfortunately I found out the hard way....
Please repost this everywhere you can!!

SCAM LOCATION
Impact 210
447 Broadway 4th floor
Soho, NY 10013

*Next time someone stops you on the street and asks you "have you ever modeled?" or tells you "you have a great look" BEWARE!! *

I checked that one out when I received it awhile back. They require a substantial up front payment and its not employment. Its not really a scam, but it doesn't belong careerbuilders. And its not any easier to make money at than any network marketing or mlm program. (assuming for the sake of argument that the two are not synonymous).

Yeah, and same goes for Model Search America that has been a subject on this board some weeks ago. Both MSA and Impact210 are spin-offs of Pearlman's former WSN - now Web Style Network / Talent Rock - selling hot air in the same fashion as the Lou Pearlman companies.

I have my doubts about the motives (and identity) of some of the poster(s) on these subjects though. Apparently our good friend scammer Defrawy has been banished some time ago by the Pearlman companies and allies, for being too offensively criminal. They want their scams smooth, you know. Now Alec is getting back on them. Using phoney names on boards is his second nature, as we all know.

I am a little bothered by your comment...I feel the people on this site have had genuine experiences and are upset, they post comments here as a way to let others know what they went through and to warn them as well, my experience with Impact210 has been terrible, till this day all my calls are avoided and I have had to stop payment on my card, it has been a nightmare, I am simply trying to get the word out...and I do believe this is what these forums are for...
thanks

Yes model it is. I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience. There are real talant agents out there. I'd start by contacting the Better Business Bureau and the actor's guild for research on the ones that are real. You should also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to help get the word out.

Good luck in finding someone to help you get your career going. You might also find people by going to findlaw.com and checking under entertainment law. Most well paid actors and models have lawyers representing them. findlaw.com is owned by Thomsom companies.
