I was just wondering. I just seen that commercial with that guy with the question mark suit screaming at the top of his lungs that "UNCLE SAM WILL PAY YOUR BILLS" .. Ive always been curious about government grants. Are they the real thing, or is there some kind of catch or underlying ?

Here's the website www.freemoneytopayyourbills.com You order the book with directions on how to apply for a grant, and the book has a list of grants as well.

There's always a catch. You have to meet qualifying requirements for Government grants.

Matthew Lesko (the guy in the suit) just saves you a lot of research time by gathering all the information in one place (his book) and telling you how to go about applying for the money. But you still have to be eligible. He's not a scam, and if you will probably find at least one grant in the book (if not more) that you can be eligible for.

Grant money is not quick, easy money. Most grants have specific dates for applying, and if you've missed the deadline, you have to wait a year before applying. It also usually takes several months for an application to be reviewed and approved.

Well the time in which money is granted doesn't bother me at all. I was just wondering if it was a scam. I guess the only down side is the time like you said, and your eligibility for the grants..

I've been wondering about grants myself... I've been trying to get somewhere on the government grant websites.. (the official ones) but it's just too much to sort through without knowing anything about grants... I'm 32 weeks pregnant, single, and running out of options.. haha.. even if these things take years to get, I don't care. My goal is to have my own house for my daughter and I in a year or two, and I'm hoping I can get help with the cost somehow. I know there are grants out there for single moms.. it's just soooooooo hard to find them. Does anybody know any easier ways to find them.. or even of any gov. programs I could look into? (Besides HUD.. already looked into that) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

and before anyone yells at me and tells me to get a job and quit being lazy... I'm not looking for a free ride or anything... and I'm not hoping to get free money so I can stay home for the rest of my life and live off everybody's taxes... I just want a nice place to raise my daughter... and with the way all the businesses in my area are closing, and the low wages a lot of businesses pay, it's going to be very difficult to get a house without some sort of help. So I'm just looking to hopefully find some of the money that's set aside for the people actually who need it.

Thanks

They are for real, but there is always a certain deadline. If you send the applications after that they wont consider it.

You can apply for stuff like "I need a new car" or "I need to finance my home" and get $100,000, but the process will take months until they inform you that 'you are approved'. And even then you will need to explain why you need a new car or why you need to finance your home.

More often than not you will get approved for common things such as electricity/rent bills and they will pay them off for you. Why? If you are in an eternal wheel of debt, it's a bad thing for the government because they get to collect less taxes from you in the future because all of your earnings are allocated to paying off a debt. The government is a business and they carefully calculate how much they can grant you.

In other words, you better have a damn good reason for "financing" a Ferrari, they wont give it to you just like that so you should just forget about it.

But if you still have $20k of mortgage left and you're simply unable to pay it off, you will most likely get approved. You should remember, though, that they don't do this out of "good will". It's a smart business decision because the more 'free money' you have, the more taxes they get and the taxes will eventually far exceed that $20k they granted you.

This may sound like a stupid ? but how do you tell if a government grant site is a valid site or someone trying to get you to believe they are just so you'll send them money?

I have some questions about gov grants. Every site I've visited wants you to buy someones book. I just need to know exactly where to go, who to contact to apply. I can't afford anyones books.
I'm sure we would probably qualify for SOMETHING. If anyone knows based on our situation maybe they could help us with some info?

MY wife and I earn about $50 - $60 per week.
My wife is 7 months pregnant.
We live with friends.
We would like to build a small home for our family.
I would like to start a business, preferably in real estate: buying & reselling land.
My wife has student loans she is struggling to pay off and sometimes cannot meet the monthly payments.
My wife is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
My wife & I both have 1 - 2 years college but never completed our degrees due to financial problems.
We have a car but it's 12 years old and we will eventually need a new one or a good used one. (Not even interested in expensive sports cars - just reliable transportation)

Does anyone know what the qualifying factors are, and for that matter, what would disqualify you?
Does anyone know any websites or addresses where you can contact the grant department directly and apply? (Without buying someones book).

I'm confused here because I am seeing a lot of ads on this site promoting the very things that people are concerned over being scammed about (as well they should be). I have been a government and private foundation grant writer (successfully so) for almost 30 years... and know that, YES, these "systems" and books and seminars and promises about 'free money' are SCAMS. Let me put it this way... how much are you willing to pay ME for a telephone book? No, the money is not free... No, not just anyone can apply... No, you are not gonna get "money to start a business, pay off personal bills, travel to far off exotic lands, and all never pay back a dime"... this is America... not Never, Neverland. Yes, there are programs with very well defined stipulations that you do not have to pay $29.95 for... but with proof of your verifiable circumstances demonstrating your "at-risk" conditions and more... our government is not near as corrupt as these vultures who feed off of our desire for a secure living... I get the calls, too. I even go the seminars to be able to lead people to 'legitimate' free agencies sanctioned with the administration of servicing grants to disadvantaged persons. Yes, large enterprises do receive grants for research, development, and more... a whole different ball of wax. Save your money... use a telephone book or your internet to contact your "local" agencies established to assist your particular need. Even a public librarian can give you listings for agencies to contact to assist you. In a nutshell... all of these savages that contact you about "free government money for starting a business, paying your bills, blah, blah, blah" cater to 'greed' - not 'need'. Don't support the scams. Tell them to get an honest job. Save yourself the money and the frustration and do our country a favor and stop the lies.
