I didn’t see Auto Club in there (AAA) I have Auto Club and I like it, quotes are based on 1 year membership and it seems high but people don’t realize that most car insurance companies give u only 6month quotes. You also get roadside assistants and you can take care most of your DMV stuff at an auto club location, like renewing, tickets ect ect.

I've been with AllState for years, whenever I've had a claim it was handled promptly and a check cut and received within days. I have both the house and cars with them. And they aren't the most expensive, they search for the best rates just like Geico does.
Progressive I don't know much about. My daughter's boyfriend had them and they seem pretty prompt in taking care of claims. (Daughter and boyfriend were in a wreck). I get weekly "check up" calls on the condition of my daughter and they are working with my chiropractor to settle the claim.

Like I said before you have to make a decision based on what fits your lifestyle, as well as the stability of the company and whatever else may be important to you. Many senior citizens find that the AARP program through The Hartford fits them best, as do busy people find GEICO to be the best Choice. Just remember, DO NOT BUY BASED ON PRICE ALONE!! If this is your only concearn, you're bound to get burned.
Don't be a mark!!

If any of you are connected with any of these companies or you just know something (good or bad) about them, please let me know. Thanks. These are all very reputable companies. I happen to be a GEICO agent, and can tell you only what I know about them for sure. GEICO is a Berkshire Hathaway company, and has been in business since 1936. Berkshire is a very strong company. Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates both sit on the board of directors. We own (I say we as I am a shareholder) companys like Netjets (remember the aprentice?) and Dairy Queen. GEICO operates under very strict guidlines, the most important being to operate with uncomprimising integrity. What that meens, is that we do not misinform, we run all reports while you are on the phone, and because we are not comissioned agents getting you the lowest rate possible is our only motive. Yes, there are incentives for selling policies, but If you comprimise your integrity to do so you will be caught, and promptly walked out the door. Within GEICO we are lectured on ethics on a regular basis.
Please, do not confuse us with companys who say they will give you their rate and the rates of several other companies. This is just not possible, how could they? They don't have access to other companies guidlines or rating software. Think about it, that would be like Pepsi sharing their recipie with Coke.
Before I came to GEICO, I worked as an independant for several other insurance companies. I saw very bad things with all of them, including one on your list the only one that gives appointments to independant agents. It got so that I could not sleep at night as I was watching people I had made friends with get screwed by their insurance company, the same one I told them would be there for them. I got out of insurance, and started a marketing company that didn't pan out. In the meen time my cousin who was insured with GEICO had an accident. He had let his policy lapse a couple days before they accident, and I was sure he was screwed. I've seen this a thousand times, insurance companies are always looking for a loop-hole to get out of a claim. I was there when the GEICO adjuster came out. They were going to pay the claim!!! How can that be I asked him, and he said because it's the right thing to do(mind you he had allready pointed out that my cousins policy was lapsed at the time of loss). Because my cousin had been with them for a couple years, how could they not take care of him in his time of need? I was blown away, you have to understand I have seen companies deny claims over some very trivial stuff, like claiming a kid was using his car to deliver pizza because they found a nametag in the car.
Anyway, for all you know GEICO could be paying me to say all of this. Bottom line these are all great companies to insure with, GEICO, and State Farm especially. Truth is you just have to do the research and find the one that fits you best. If you want to be able to do business with a friendly agent over the phone or via the internet 24/7/365 then GEICO is the right choice for you.
One more thing. I have seen alot of people saying different insurance companies are scamers, for example Esurance.com, because they were quoted one price, and then it was raised. There are two reasons this happens: 1) happens least often - We make a mistake. We are human, and you have the right to cancel your policy at any time. Some companies charge a fee to cancel - GEICO does not. 2) You forgot to tell us about something on your record, and live in a state that does not report MVR's real time there for we don't find out for a couple days. We live in a world where all your info is available for a price, and it take very little initial information to uncover your past. What I'm trying to say is, if you want an acurate quote, make sure you tell the agent everything on your record, because we will find it sooner or later. We would run your reports to find out before we qoute you but they cost between $10-$15 to run, and I'm sure you can see where this would get rather expensive. Good luck, And I hope you find a company you can trust!!
Don't be a mark!!

What do you guys think of Amica auto inurance? I am a new driver in NJ and can use some help here.
Geico quoted $4500 (per annum) and Amica exactly half that ($2250). Needless to say I am with Amica now.
Any word of caution advice ... maybe some experiences?

Any word of caution advice ... maybe some experiences? Don't really know a whole lot about Amica, but alot is happening right now in NJ. The laws are changing, and it's becoming alot easier for insurance companies to do buiness in the state. So keep shopping at every renewal for the next couple of years at least. As guidlines and rating structures change, so will premiums. It's wise to shop at renewal anyway, but beware - tenure can do alot for your premium as well. Good luck!!

HOw do these insurance companies rate ? It depends on who you ask ... I have been in the " automotive " industry for almost 20 years now of which about 9 of it is/was related to autobody repair .... On the stand point of how the companies rate really depnds on how they are when it comes to repairing a vehicle, if its a claimant or insured ... you can ask any autobody repair shop if they will talk on who is the best and worst ... if the shop is a DRP ( direct repair program ) its either feast or famin ... where shops are sent ALOT of work in these programs the insurance company actually dictates on how the vehicle is repaired and the shop has to fight at times to get things done properly. A lot of the insurance companies REQUIRE used ( LKQ) or aftermarket parts IF your are the Insured .... if you are the claimant you have better leverage of getting NEW parts depending on the year of your veh. READ YOUR POLICY !!!!!! now LKQ parts are not necessarily bad that stands for Like Kind & Quality that means that the used part must be at least the same age or newer to be put on your car ( year and milage ) IF the LKQ part is CRAP and there are no others in the area then the insurance company is FORCED to pay for a new part. I could go on .... the public really needs to educate themselfs and read thier insurance policies.
Also keep in mind that many times when there is a delay in the repair of your vehicle IT IS NOT the shops fault, its the insurance company dragging their feet. The shop wants to get the car in, fix it and get it out so they can work on the next veh. they do not make any money until the job is complete. Work with the shop to work with the insurance company.. If there is any delays call the insurance companies light a fire under their feet.
Here in AZ geico is actually a very easy insurance company to deal with. Your also better off staying with either a dealership bodyshop or a well known independant shop...
Im not sure how it is in other states BUT in Arizona you have the RIGHT TO HAVE YOUR VEH REPAIRED ANY PLACE OF YOUR CHOICE.... the Insurance companies CAN NOT tell you where to take it. They will try and strongly suggest that you take it to thier prefered shop, and even may tell you that it will not be gaurenteed if you dont take it to thier shop.... THATS CRAP !!!! take it to a dealer or ask an independant most of them carry the same guarentee ... REMEMBER its YOUR CHOICE NOT the insurance companies .... One of the companies listed above VERY STRONGLY tells people they HAVE to use thier shops and that is not true.... its your car your choice. PERIOD !!! other states check with your state office, insurance commission ... find out what the regulations are...
Ok Ill get off my soap box now ....

Insurance companies and their agents are 99% scum.
The law requires insurance. Get the best rate you can. You'll get screwed by EVERY company. Do the best you can in spite of their resistance. It's their job to deny claims. It's your job to fight them.
Deal with it.

Just find the best rate that you can. I do love the Geico commercials though.
