Dear miss ignorant BadLady,
First off i would like to say that the rescission period or how you like to call it a "cool off" period in Florida does not exist in phone sales, it goes from state to state. In the GREAT state of Florida, there is no rescission period for over the phone sales. Second no one physically jumped into the phone grabed your mothers arm and made her give out any of her information to purchase the vacation or anything else in that matter. Last time I checked we all have something that is called free will. I purchased the vacation stayed at the resort got free disney tickets all for just walking around a resort and at the end of the tour saying NO!! Wow that was hard wasn't it. Thats what people should learn to do if they don't want to buy something or they don't have the money to pay for it. Badlady instead of putting all your time and energy iinto saying a company is trying to steal from there consumers. What you should do is take some time to teach your mother the english language and the definition of NO and Yes. Just a thought!!!

PLEASE BE ADVISED, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR INFORMATION OR HELP WITH CANCELLING THE PURCHASE OF A SUMMER BAY RESORT VACATION PACKAGE, IGNORE THE RED TEXT IN THIS POSTING. IT IS UNFORTUNATE, BUT OCCASIONALLY I HAVE TO TAKE THE TIME TO RESPOND TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT ME TO HELP YOU. (THEY PROVIDE COMIC RELIEF. ) BUT WE HAVE BEEN VERY, VERY, VERY SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING REFUNDS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE DECIDED THAT THIS VACATION IS SIMPLY NOT FOR YOU. YOU CAN FIND A SAMPLE CANCELLATION LETTER ALONG WITH THE FAX NUMBER, MAILING ADDRESS AND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW AND WHERE TO SEND IT ON VARIOUS POSTINGS UNDER "BADLADY717" PRECEDING THIS ONE. AND IF YOU NEED ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY. THANK YOU.
"You Got Mold", I'm glad that you found someone who was kind enough to write that last post for you. Hopefully, he or she will assist you in reading this one. Although my supporters love to read my responses to some of the more ridiculous postings, I must tell you that I didn't read most of yours - epic fiction is not my thing. I prefer works on Imperial China and the fall of Imperial Russia at the hands of the Bolchevics (do you think that Anna Anderson was really the Grand Duchess Anastasia, allegedly murdered at Ektarinburg on July 17, 1918 along with the last of the Romanov Dynasty?) And, just let me say that I hope you are taking your "12-Step" Program seriously. Keep it up and, remember, take it one day at a time.
However, I am not going to let your remarks about my mother pass without coming to her defense and that of other elderly people (FYI, I am not a "Senior Citizen". R U?). Up until this point, I never disrespected your mother or anybody else's mother the way you have done mine - who speaks fluent English much better than you write it (our descendents go back 500 years in this country). It is obvious that you have issues with your mother and with women in general. I don't know where you got that "Golden Girls" and "Depends" crap with respect to me. What the hell is that supposed to mean? Again, you don't know anything about me. As for "traveling the Chocolate Highway": you've got Summer Bay so far up your ass that you can eat it for lunch! Since my three brothers and my father don't take disrespect towards my mother lightly, my Dad says that he used to get aHead by going around AND UP the Block quite a few times with some other guys. Ooops - I just heard from him that your mom's name used to be "Miss Block" back in the day. Where is she right now, "You"? Saying "Yes" to a telemarketer so she can be grabbing her ankles later tonight? (You started it - I didn't)
Okay, that said, I hope my people will continue to ignore these "plants" who's only purpose is get us to believe that we are not entitled to exercise our rights. They keep getting caught up on the fact that you purchasers said "Yes" on the phone and bought the vacation packages - which is not a crime or anything that hasn't been done a million times before. But the one thing they can't seem to get in the few brain cells that they have remaining is JUST LIKE YOU HADE THE RIGHT TO SAY "YES" ON THE PHONE, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY "NO" IN WRITING LATER. That is the action which these naysayers are trying to make you feel ashamed over. They are just pissed because we now have the information needed to put a serious hole in SBR's pockets.
All of this only makes me and many others who have asked to help me even more determined to prepare a package to be sent to the Florida Attorney General's office, Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, the Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services, the Trading Standards Authority in the United Kingdom, and politicians in both Florida and the states where the people who have been affected by this company reside. I will be contacting my direct emailers and the people who have left posts on this forum for their states. Another person who will receive one of our complaint reports is Joe H. Scott, Jr., developer and owner of RCI Gold Crown Resort which operates the various Summer Bay Resorts.
PS to"You": Don't bother to answer any of the questions I asked since I won't waste anymore time reading anything you have to say. And the people who are directed to this page via Google are not interested in your babbling. They only want help in exercising their right to cancel, not in the rambling of player haters. And, because I am a workaholic writer and a consumer advocate, answering these posts are very easy for me to fit in my schedule. Plus I type 65 wpm. However, I don't drink, smoke or do drugs of any kind and never have (but you seem to know a lot about all of that - what were you on at 6:00 AM when you dictated your response? Call your sponsor!!) McDonalds is not a place where I dine and the only things I want "SuperSized" are my men!!

Wow,
O.K. Golden Girl, I am going to try real hard not to make you or your mother get your Depends in a wad. But before I start, what exactly are "Summer Bay Resort Chocolate Highway Travelers ???” I tell ya Missy you must have been around the block i.e. “well-traveled” a few times because I have never heard that phrase! Hmm I am sure you have already put all of your degrees & intelligence in a box! Must be a very small box at the bottom of the Pacific, which mind you is not only the deepest but the largest of the five oceans. Let me ask you a question. Do you have Power of Attorney over your mother’s estate? If so, why did leave her by herself if she had no clue what she was doing? I am only asking this because I happen to care about an 80 year old woman’s well being. I do believe if you have that authority and you did leave her unattended that is called NEGLECT. Should we contact your local police department? Furthermore, what were you doing up at 1:06 AM typing a reply? Do you have a drinking problem. Were you up lushing it up on the old Merlot? Or, possible it took you that long to spell check your speech? Where was mom? Out wandering the streets? Maybe she was on a late night telemarketing call. LMAO (in case you are unaware of the definition of that is look it up in the AOL manual PLAYA!)
We must not have anything better to do in our such “upper-class” life other then sit around and think of movie quotes and comebacks for a website that is full of nothing but opinions. Well, I would love to have a word war with you, but my uneducated self likes to do other things then worry about what an old woman and her even older mother are putting on a website. But I do have to say that it has been a ton of fun to see someone get so upset over the fact that was stated before. Teach your mother the English language and the definition of the word Yes and No. I know that you stated that your mother is off limits, but this wasn’t an attack. It was more of an educational purpose for people that don’t understand that you’re sold on things everyday. I know you’re the person that goes into McDonald’s and likes things super sized HA!! they sold you to. Now that we are all on the same page and understanding that I’m not trying to attack you or your mother (God forbid we don’t want to give the elderly a heart attack or anything) take time to breathe, step away from the computer, and appreciate the finer things in life. If you’re not sure what that is I’ll be happy to sell you a vacation to come check it out! Player!! Well I am going to go now. Make sure you go to an AA meeting & call the Whitehouse. Maybe they give a sh*t.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change the courage to change the things that I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
Oh by the way I want to keep up with the trends of you “Young” kids these days.
“ALL I HAVE IN THIS WORLD IS MY WORD AND MY BALLS AND I DON’T BREAK THEM FOR NO ONE”

TO: "You Got Sold"...Sorry, it took me a while to decipher your bad spelling and poor grammatical skills. It is really amazing that the people who support SBR can't even spell! What is that all about? And, why can't I get you "Summer Bay Resort Chocolate Highway Travelers" to understand that on your best day you will never be as smart as I am on my worse day!!!
Please be advised that I have never once took the offensive move of calling anyone a name (although I can sure handle it on the defense!) Nor have I ever defamed Summer Bay Resort by referring to its tactics as a scam, so I don't appreciate your name calling. ME - IGNORANT? WHO HELPED YOU SPELL THAT? Since you don't know me, that level of rudeness and disrespect certainly was not called for. Perhaps, that's the way you were brought up, with no home training. If that's the case, your mother should have been an alligator because they eat their young at birth!
We all know that you are probably yet another minimum wage telemarketing employee of the Summer Bay travel agency, one with probably not much formal education, encouraged to try to offset the damage my forum has created. I, on the other hand, am very educated, highly intelligent, and well-traveled. But I am also able to put my degrees and intelligence in a box by the door and take out the boxing gloves. And when I finish with your ass, I will still be very educated, highly intelligent, and well-traveled. And you will still have a GED (maybe) and that chicken-sh*t job at Summer Bay.
So let me check your dumb ass in a few things, Nephew. First I don't report anything that I have not done research on. So take your damaged frontal lobe to the Florida Attorney General's website:
http://myfloridalegal.com/__85256CC...ling,off,period
if you don't earn enough money to own or possess enough sense to operate a computer (can you say "Power Button" and "Point & Click?), you can find both at your local library (the librarians are very nice and will help you log on, find the website, and help you with the big words...
Okay, now let's investigate the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Customer Services, which functions as the state's clearinghouse for consumer complaints. They assist consumers with information, protection and complaints, regardless of whether we regulate that particular industry. They state the following:
The telemarketing law requires businesses that solicit the sale of consumer goods or services to be licensed, to post some form of security, and that their salespersons be licensed. It also requires the solicitor to identify him or herself by true first and last name and the name of the business on whose behalf he or she is calling. It requires a written contract that matches the description of the goods or services offered in the telephone solicitation, contains the name, address, telephone number and license number of the seller, and states the buyers right to cancel immediately preceding the signature. The written contract is not required if the consumer is given a full refund for the return of undamaged and unused goods or a cancellation of services within 7 days of receipt of the goods or a cancellation of the services and the seller processes the refund within 30 days after receipt of the returned merchandise by the consumer.
Now I don't even want to quote the Federal Trade Commission. And, wonder of wonders, you were marginally correct about the laws legislated by each individual STATE to protect its citizens from "the Great state of Florida". Too bad that statement may be detrimental to your cause. It's going to get ugly when I start telling people how to get their state politicians involved in getting their money back since we really don't know which state - the seller's or the buyer's - has jurisdiction over this matter, since it varies from state to state. (I'm so sorry, but do you need to look up "jurisdiction"? I can wait for you to catch up......)
But, for the sake of argument, say I concede to your assertion that Florida has no law regulating telemarketing sales, THE WRITTEN TERMS AND CONDITIONS PROVIDED BY SUMMER BAY RESORT CLEARLY STATES THAT " THE PURCHASER HAS FULL RIGHT TO CANCEL HIS/HER ORDER AT NO PENALTY ANYTIME DURING THE INITIAL 7-DAY PERIOD". This information is given to the purchaser as part of the "Letter of Confirmation, which is provided on the SBR webiste whether than via email, fax, or snail mail. (Whoa, Dawg, some states require that telemarketing purchaser be given this info in writing to their homes.) I HAVE GOTTEN COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD TROUBLE EVEN LOGGING ONTO THIS ACCOUNT SITE. BUT HAS SUMMER BAY CONSIDERED THE ELDERLY WHO GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS AND WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO NAVIGATE THE INTERNET WELL ENOUGHT TO BE BE TRACKING DOWN SOME WEBSITE. THEY SIT AROUND WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO BE SENT TO THEM IN THE MAIL - LIKE NORMAL COMPANIES DO. WELL, I WILL FIND OUT ABOUT HOW SENIOR CITIZENS SHOULD BE TREATED ONCE I CONTACT THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION ABOUT ITS LAW ON COMSUMER PROTECTION FOR THE ELDERLY AGAINST TELEMARKETERS
LET ME SEE YOU COUNTER THAT, "OH-ONE-WHO-CALLED-ME-IGNORANT"?
NOW YOU MAY HAVE HAD A NICE VACATION, BUT WHO KNOWS, YOU MAY CONSIDER A DOUBLE-WIDE TRAILER WITH A REDWOOD DECK AND POLYESTER CURTAINS AS A LUXURY HOME? STAYING AT A MOTEL WITH ROACHES, MOLDY SMELLS, NASTY TOILETS, AND FLEA-RIDDEN BLANKETS COULD BE YOUR STANDARD FOR 5-STAR ACCOMMODATIONS. OR, MAYBE,AS AN EMPLOYEE OF SBR, YOU GOT THE RARE OPPORTUNITY TO STAY AT THE LOVELY SUMMER BAY RESORT, NOT THE INN AT SUMMER BAY (THAT I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE STAYING), WITH "PAID ACCESS" TO THE MANY AMENITIES OF THE RESORT, BY RISKING YOUR FAMILY'S LIVES TRYING CROSS A MAJOR HIGHWAY OR DRIVE 3 MILES VIA A CIRCUITOUS ROUTE JUST TO REACH THE SBR. OR MAYBE YOU MISSED THE BULLET BY NOT BEING DIRECTED TO THE ISLAND CLUB RESORT & SPA/ISLAND HIDEAWAY/ISLAND CLUB WEST (THREE NAME CHANGES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS, BUT NO EVIDENCE OF A CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP - AND ANOTHER HOTEL I WAS TOLD I MIGHT BE BOOKED IN). TRAVELERS REVIEWS AT http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUser...rt_Florida.html WILL GIVE YOU CHAPTER AND VERSE ON THE ROACHES, FLEAS, WORN FURNITURE, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE "BOONDOCKS" LOCATION OVER 6 MILES AWAY FROM THE AMENITIES AT SBR, AND LIMITED ACCCESS TO RESTAURANTS AT BOTH.
But "YOU GOT SOLD", if your pea brain can process information, you will notice that our issue is with the fact that SUMMER BAY DOES NOT PROVIDE THE CANCELLATION ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER ANY WHERE ON ITS WRITTEN CONFIRMATION OR ON THE WEBSITE. THAT IS MANDATED BY LAW IN MANY STATES. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE TELEMARKETING LAWS ARE ARE MUCH MORE STRINGENT FOR CITIZENS OF THE UNITED KINGDOM - THEY HAVE AS MUCH AS A 16 DAY "COOLING OFF" PERIOD IN SOME COUNTRIES AND A GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY THAT MONITORS TELEMARKETERS FROM THE US. PLUS, THEY MAKE UP A LARGE PORTION OF SBR's DEMOGRAPHIC (I'll give you a chance to find and dictionary and look up that word......................Okay, got it? Ask someone to decipher it for you. I'll wait...........). But I digress, we are only saying that Summer Bay Resort is not acting in good faith by not posting the same cancellation information which its own Terms & Conditions offer. Now, trust me, based on the way their travel sales agency, Summer Bay Resorts (with a "s") confuses purchasers with their double talk, they would not be offering a cancellation option unless there was some underlying obstacle to keep people from exercising this right. I'm sure you will agree with me on that issue - that is you are able to process such complex information.
Again, if you can read, you will notice that I have conceded that people had the right to just say no to the purchase of the "vacation packages" but they purchased packages based on SBR's promise of a 7-day cancellation period. The problem arises when, after the purchaser takes the time to check out what they bought IN WRITING on the SBR website and discover that that there were a lot of ambiguities (dictionary?) on what they were told on the phone and what was represented on the website. After some consideration and discussion with family members, they decide to exercise their option to cancel. But, alas, the address, phone number, fax number, and email address is not on any of the documents on the website and no one at the sales phone number will give up the info. Most purchasers are dogged out on the phone, forced to make dozens of phone calls (a financial hardship for people in other countries), being promised return calls and then (gulp!), the 7-day cancellation period has passed. Hmmm, I wonder who engineered that.....
Finally, let's get to your jabs about my mother. I have said very early in this forum that my 80 year-old mother was off limits and that ALL assertions on this matter are to be directed to me. If you want to go toe-to-toe with my about mothers, then bring it on, Baby. I have been playing the "dozens" before you were born!
BUT, ON THE SUBJECT OVER WHICH ONE OF US IS IGNORANT - THIS IS MY HOUSE!!!
PAPERBACK PIMP, YOU JUST GOT SERVED!! (You may want to look that up in the "Playa's Manual", fo' shizzle, Ignizille)

I would like everyone know that I have filed complaints with the Florida Attorney General's Office and the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. We are asking these organizations to compel Summer Bay Resort to provide purchasers with the contact information to cancel the vacation packages within the 7 day period as stated in the SBR "Terms & Conditions".
I would like to reiterate that this thread is not accusing Summer Bay Resort of perpetrating a scam against its purchasers - just of being a hard-ass when it comes to providing all necessary information at the time of purchase.
REMEMBER - It is very important that you LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY to what the salesperson is saying and ASK QUESTIONS about what you are being sold. Ask if the vacation is ALL-INCLUSIVE or if it has ADDITIONAL COSTS somewhere down the line. In the case of Summer Bay Resort, find out if you will staying at the actual RCI-OWNED AND OPERATED SUMMER BAY RESORT or if you will be booked into one of its "affiliated hotels". If the latter is the case, HANG UP THE PHONE!
(In spite of asking numerous specific questions, I was actually told that my accommodations would be at the Inn at SUMMER BAY or the Island Club RESORT & Spa or one of their affliated hotels. "___ __SUMMER BAY __ ______ ____ RESORT _ ___". Do you see how, if you are not paying attention, you will get something other than you thought you were getting?)
More importantly, when they refer you to their site www.sbrfl.com for you to see exactly what you will be getting (yeah, right!), ask them, that while you study the website, to email you a confirmation of where you will be staying in each city, what theme parks will honor your passes and what, if any, restrictions the passes have, what cruise ship you will taking to the Grand Bahamas, which island in the Bahamas you will be going to, the length of the cruise, the number of persons included in the vacation, which dates are blacked out, how long do you have to take the vacation, any travel and lodging restrictions, and the total price you will be paying. You also want the "Terms & Conditions" along with the CONTACT INFORMATION IN CASE YOU WANT TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL". If they claim that they can't send the email right away or without the authorization of a "manager", tell them that you MAY call back to book because you need to study the vacation and research the locations you will be staying. DO THIS ALL BEFORE YOU GIVE OUT YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION.
These proactive deeds MAY insure that you get the vacation that you thought you were paying for. Summer Bay Resort seems to be a really great place to stay with lots of amenities. In fact, it is so nice that you will hardly need to go to Daytona and cruise to the Bahamas. If you can get 9 days/8 nights for 4 people at the real Summer Bay Resort with 2-day passes for everybody in your party to Disney World/Universal Studios at the cost of $598, you'd really be getting a great vacation - only $18.68 per person!
But the best thing is to be prudent and do your homework BEFORE you give out your credit card information. A vacation travel agency acting in good faith should allow you to review their offer and call them back.
STOP AND THINK… and ask yourself these questions…
•* Was the promotion unsolicited? •* Did it come from overseas? •* Does it look too good to be true? •* Do I have to respond ‘at once’ – what’s the rush? •* Do I have to make a purchase to win a prize? •* Do I have to call a premium rate telephone number? •* Do I have to give my bank or credit card details? •* Do I have to send the money to a PO Box number? •* Am I asked to keep it confidential?* •* Can I afford to lose the money?
LET'S HOPE THAT THE FLORIDA OFFICIALS WILL BE ABLE TO, AT THE VERY LEAST, COMPEL SUMMER BAY RESORT TO PROVIDE THE CANCELLATION CONTACT INFORMATION AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE AND THEN HONOR THE CANCALLATION LETTERS WITHOUT A LOT OF DRAMA. (Summer Bay is very good about refunding your money upon receipt of the letter - just keep your fax transmission and mail delivery confirmation - when I called to make sure my mother's fax had been received, I was told that a lot of faxes "got lost"! I have unlimited long distance so I faxed it 10 times just to piss them off and use up their paper and ink!
AGAIN, AS ALWAYS, GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Please advised that I just received an email from a purchaser who attempted to cancel her vacation the day after she bought it. When she sent her letter via delivery confirmation to the P.O. box that everyone has been using since mid-May 2005, she got the unopened envelope returned stating that the box had been "closed". Well, on their site www.summerbayresort.com, which is not given to people upon purchase of the "vacation package", they have contact info for the resort office (plus it was one of the FIRST addresses I posted for cancellations until I was given another one the next day). It is:
Summer Bay Resort 25 Town Center Blvd. Suite C Clermont, Fl 34714 Local Phone: (352) 242-1100 Toll Free: (888) 742-1100 Fax: (352) 242-0870 & (407) 875-0152
I have been advised by another person who got a refund that she also sent letters and faxes to:
M. Eddie Avegno, Marketing Quality Assurance SUMMER BAY RESORT 17805 W. US Highway 192 Clermont, FL 34711-4836 (800) 742-1100 x7919 fax: (352) 242-2669
Mitch Lokken, Quality Assurance Team SUMMER BAY RESORT 7700 Southland Blvd #160 Orlando, FL 32809 fax: (407) 447-6841
This information was provided also on my first and second postings when I started this forum in May.
WE KNEW IT THAT IT WOULD BE JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY EITHER DISCONNECTED THE FAX NUMBER OR CLOSED THE P.O. BOX. BUT IT WILL DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE FOR SBR TO CHANGE THE PHYSICAL ADDRESS OF THEIR PRIMARY RESORT @ 17805 W. US HWY. 192; CLERMONT, FL 34711 WHICH IS OWNED BY "SUMMER BAY PARTNERSHIP" (WHICH CAN BE VERIFIED AT THE FLORIDIA DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DIVISIONS OF CORPORATIONS AT:
http://www.sunbiz.org/scripts/corde...ERBAYRESORT&r5=
OR THEIR "PRINCIPAL PLACE OF BUSINESS" AND "MAILING ADDRESS" FOR "SUMMER BAY SALES & MARKETING" AT 25 TOWN CENTER BLVD - SUITE C; CLERMONT, FL 34714. ADDRESS, AGAIN ACCORDING TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DIVISIONS OF CORPORATIONS AT:
http://www.sunbiz.org/scripts/corde...ERBAYRESORT&r5=
WHEN THEY ZIG, YOU HAVE TO ZAG!
What that signifies is that, until Summer Bay Resort provides the cancellation contact info at point of purchase during its sales calls AND posts it prominantly on the websites given to purchasers to review their "Letter of Confirmation" AND on the "Letter of Confirmation" AND in its "Terms & Conditions" right after its notice of the purchaser's "7-day right to cancel", ALL BETS ARE OFF!! You must exercise your rights BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.
When companies make it difficult for me, I make it unbearable for them! I will fax my cancellation letter and call to see if it has been received. If I get the runaround or, in the case of Summer Bay, told that they "routinely misplace faxes", I will then send the same letter TWENTY TIMES, using up their paper and ink. If SBR doesn't want to play fair ball, then you make it hard for them to ignore you. And being the cause of their having fax paper all over their floor is a good way for them to know that you are serious. If you have multiple fax numbers on them, do the same on each. IF THEY TREAT YOU LIKE AN *******, THEN YOU ACT LIKE A *******!
NOW FOR MY UNITED KINGDOM FOLKS.....I have also received yet another email from a purchaser in the UK (all of the above-referenced emails came in TODAY what is going on? ) She would like to take the vacation but has not been able to reach Summer Bay via its International Reservation Number (0-800-032-4335). She states that she has tried several times because she is interested in booking a vacation, but has been unable to get through. I have not been able to find her an alternate contact yet but, TRUST ME, with a little bit of time, I WILL FIND OUT SOMETHING.
IF ANY INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO ASSIST YOUR "HOMIES" WHO ARE HAVING TROUBLE MAKING RESERVATIONS, PLEASE POST IT HERE OR SEND ME AN EMAIL THROUGH THIS SITE.
AND, FINALLY, I AND SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE MADE COMPLAINTS AGAINST SUMMER BAY RESORT ABOUT ITS UNFAIR PRACTICES OF NOT PROVIDING THE CONTACT INFORMATION, GIVING CALLERS WHO WANT TO CANCEL THE RUNAROUND UNTIL THE 7-DAY PERIOD HAS PASSED, AMONG OTHER THINGS. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF, AFTER YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR REFUND THAT YOU, TOO, WOULD MAKE A COMPLAINT. PLEASE DO SO ON BEHALF OF THE PURCHASERS WHO COME BEHIND YOU. DON'T GET YOUR REFUND AND THEN GET COMPLACENT - NOT CARING ABOUT OTHERS YOU CAN HELP.
You can complete online complaint forms via the Florida Attorney General: http://myfloridalegal.com/Contact.n...Economic_Crimes <http://myfloridalegal.com/Contact.nsf/Contact?OpenForm&Section=Economic_Crimes>
AND
Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Affairs: http://www.800helpfla.com/ccform.html
I have changed the order of my postings so that the most recent posting will be seen first. That way new viewers have immediate access to the latest contact information. Again, you must send in your cancellation letter within 7-days of purchasing your vacation package. DO NOT BOTHER TO CALL IN YOUR CANCELLATION!! Fax the letter (I have provided a sample letter further down in this forum) to the numbers provided, particularly the one at 25 Town Center Blvd. Mail the letter to the same address. Be sure you print out a fax transmission report from your machine immediately upon sending the fax to prove the date and time of your cancellation notice. Also mail your letter via Priority Mail-Delivery Confirmation in the US (and whatever the same method in the United Kingdom). Contact your credit card company and bank immediately and dispute the charges since we are now having problems with SBR. Up until recently, the company was very good about refunding monies upon receipt of the cancellation letter. However, after the recent closing of the PO box in Maitland, FL, you need to be on alert and use other methods. If you have unlimited long distance or don't mind spending money on extra calls ( do it during off-peak periods), fax your letter to every fax number we have provided - again getting your fax transmission report after each one or printing out a single page Print Journal which lists the last 15 to 25 transmissions (both sent and received). Print out your Confirmation Letter from www.beginmyvacation.com, logging in to your SBR account using your phone number and email address. Also print out the Vacation Package details. One of the documents will contain the SBR "Terms & Conditions" with the 7-day cancellation option. KEEP ALL OF THESE DOCUMENTS AS EVIDENCE FOR YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND BANK.
AND ALL OF YOU "NEWBIES', PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ ALL OF THE RELEVANT POSTINGS ON THIS FORUM AS IT CONTAINS MORE INDEPTH INFORMATION. THIS PAGE IS A SUMMARY OF ALMOST 70 SUPPORTIVE POSTS. AND JUST IGNORE THE "PLAYER HATERS" - THEY PROBABLY WORK FOR SUMMER BAY RESORT.
Oh, by the way, I really wish that those of you in the U.S. could see the www.beginmyvacation.com accounts for the purchasers from the United Kingdom. They get SOOOOO much more information than we do. And their vacation detail pages are so much nicer. I wonder what's that all about....
And have you figured out how you will get from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale for your Discovery Cruise? And to Daytona (55 miles) or Cocoa Beach (59 miles) from Orlando? It's about 212 miles away! And it's kinda expensive to fly into one city (Orlando) and out another (Ft. Lauderdale). You need to ask SBR specifically about ground transportation.

I was on a site and their add popped up saying I was the millionth viewer to view the particular website I was on, and "click here to claim your prize". So I did, and it brought me to a page stating I've recieved $1,000.00 off a vacation package. I called, and it sounded like a good deal, especially since I already live in FL, and would not have to fly/rent a car. I gave them my C.Card info, and told them I could not afford the package at the time. They said they would hold my discount, and try to run it in a month. They told me I could call and cancell if I did not have the funds before the month was up, wuich ended up being the case. When I talked to them this time they couldn't find my info to cancell it. It went through to my credit card, wuich they told me it couldn't possibly do because my info wasn't there, but if it did to call back. I called back and they suddenly had my info. I was charged three different amounts, resulting in three ISF fees. But they did credit the money back into my account within 3 days. Now I have to go to my bank and fax them my statement on bank letterhead, showing that they did in fact cause these ISF charges. I have an alotted time frame to do this. I will let you all know what happens! At least I got my money back, and my bank (bless Wachovia) can dispute this charge, also giving me an additional refund, wuich will be an extra $498.00. If this happens it will be worth the hassle.

About 1 1/2 ago I was phoned by Summer Bay Resorts with an offer of a stay 3 nights at their Orlando resort, and 2 nights at their Daytona resort. All my cost was going to be was 95.00 and this also included a free 5 days in Cancoon Mexico(this they told me I could make money on by selling it on ebay, which I never did because of major complications) - and also I had to attend a 90 minute session with Summer Bay Resorts. I went ahead and purchased this package with my credit card, and this was something I have never done before in my life, I never before had fell for one of those sales pitches, but since I knew I would be vacationing there sometime in the next 2 years with my husband and 2 children, so I went ahead with it.
So 3 months ago I phoned and booked my reservations for my stay in Florida, the dates were 9/9-9/12/05 in Orlando and 9/13-9/14/05 in Daytona. I was charged a $55.00 reservation fee (which NO ONE told me about when I purchased the package) I first was staying in another state for about a month before going to Florida so this is why I booked so much in advance.
I was called by a someone from Summer Bay Resorts at my home phone to confirm my reservations. When I returned the call to the lady who phoned my I was given a machine and confirmed my stay with her on her voice mail. I asked for a reply and then phoned 2 days later again to ask to speak with her. She never called back so I just assumed everything was fine.
When I arrived at the Summer Bay Welcome Center at about 5pm on 9/9/05 I was given a rude guy named "Hiram" or something and he said there was some problems because Summer Bay had been calling me for a few months to confirm the reservation but hadn't gotten a hold of me so they cancelled my reservation. So anyways he re booked me, and gave me instructions on a map to go across the street to the Summer Bay Inn.
When we drove over there we were outraged at the place we were sent to when across the street is their nice Summer Bay Resorts and their Holiday Inn Express.
The place we were at was worse than motel 6 with stinky rooms, a gross pool and leaky sinks, not a good air conditioner. NON of the many amenities I was told came with the place on top of the fact I was told I would be at a RESORT not some junky motel!
I immediately called the guy who sent me there and they told me to call the ones I booked with. I was told on the phone that I had to drive across the street to get the breakfast and all the After getting the run around for about 30 minutes, and being transferred from person to person, I was told to go back to the Welcome Center and they would book me at the Holiday Inn Express.
Of course the ones at the Welcome Center were mean and angry with me and treated me with an attitude.
The Holiday Inn was decent and nice because the breakfast was right in the building - although we did have to drive some ways to the lake where the fishing and boat rentals were available.
The 90 minute session turned into over 2hrs and was extremely deceptive in the way that they reserved the price of everything they were showing us until the end.
I ended up cancelling and never going to the Daytona Beach reservation because when I called them they said that because I didn't purchase anything at the previous 90 minute session I had to repeat the session there. This was another detail of my story which was very angering, and completely made me say "I will NEVER do this again"! What a complete SCAM this whole company is!
Please learn from my mistake and never trust a this company, it will save you alot of hassle and a make your vacation much better without them to deal with, trust me.
I could go on more and more about this SCAM hotel/resort, but I will leave it there. Hopefully this will be of some help to someone.
