Sundance Vacations AKA Travel Advantage network is a scam. They coax you in with the incentive of free hotel stays and a $1000 internet shopping spree. They have you sit down and explain to you how with little down you could get hotle accomdations blah blah blah....I just was curious about the give away and the free hotel...they didnt sell me anything and it turns out that with the $1000 shopping spree that there is a small shipping and "processing" fee. About $300 for the $1000 that you would spend. And the stuff that is on the site is such crap!!! The items that they were trying to "give away" were easily equal or lesser in value then the items shipping and processing fee. it was worth a good laugh and the hotel thing might actually pan out. But in retrospect it was not worth 3 hours of time driving to and from and listening to their boring crap....

I don't understand why you think this is a scam.

I have been a TAN member for years and have nothing but good things to say about it. Before I became a member I was called by a telemarketer and offered a trip for coming in and listening to a sales pitch. They were very straight forward with me on the phone and I knew what I was getting in to when I decided to go.

I was very impressed by what they had to offer and their unique way of saving money on vacations (I travel a lot).

Maybe their services don't benefit you. I can see how it wouldn't benefit everybody, but this company isn't scamming anyone.

Sundance while not an out and out scam but is as sleazy and deceptive as you can get. I totally agree with the first letter. They say you will have an hour presentation and you get a huge spiel with hidden costs mentioned at the end. No one mentions the 16 1/2 percent interest rate on monthly charges. When you total in yearly charges, annual processing fees, high season supplements etc, you wind up spending alot more than a do-it-yourself vacation.
The big deal $1000 gift is the worst junk and about a third of the amount is shipping and handling. When you get the call the "you have won" they tell you it is a "small" shipping and handling charge and never mention that the only site is the one that sells the junk.
The 2 nights at a hotel requires a $50 good faith deposit, the 2 days are not consecutive but 30 days apart with registration way ahead of the stay-- with blackout periods considered.
They promised a $15 dinner- you had to ask for it at the end of the 3rd spiel and that too is paperwork to get.
I have a feeling that no one bothers with any of it and it's a waste of gas to make the trip.

I went last night for the 1hr spiel that lasted 1 1/2 hours. After being passed through three (3) people, sales, manager and one last spiel by the certificate guy, we were left with a bad taste in our mouth also.
The newest ploy was we filled out a slip at the circus for a chance to win a car. We were contacted under false pretense telling us to come in and claim our prize. I spoke to three other couple there and they were contacted the same way. I agree with post #1 and #3, buyer beware! I also agree with the packages offered as your prize, make sure you read the to other posts. In closing, when you add everything together, booking fee, memebership fee, and initial fee, it becomes very expensive, especially when you consider it is only for room & board!

I entered a drawing to win a car and just received a telephone call from Sundance Vacations with the whole malarkey of a Marriott getaway and $1000 internet shopping spree, blah blah blah.... Thanks for your postings so I don't have to waste my time calling the chick back now that I know it's baloney. I thought it was.... Thanks again.

I just had someone call me from Sundance making this spiel about $1000 internet shopping, free hotel stay, etc., etc. They kept insisting that if I had a boyfriend, he had to come with me. I explained to them that we don't live together and I certainly don't need his income for any type of support. I already own my own home and a vacation home. But they keep insisting that he come. They probably think I can't make a decision on my own or need his money to do so. I found it insulting that I could only qualify by bringing my boyfriend. What century are they in? Thanks to the posts above, I passed. If it's too good to be true................, it usually is. Thanks.

I too was given the call to come check out this presentation and was offered the three night hotel stay, $1000 shopping spree and $15 dinner certificate. We decided to go and check it out. At first they try to glamorize going on vacation for alot less than you would normally pay and then finally towards the end of the presentation they go into the whole 'how much will this cost'. Normally, it's $15,000, but if you sign today, it's $11,000. Finally a representative takes you into a room to explain the different payment options and they are all so nice to you. Smiles, friendly questions, blah, blah, blah. When my husband and I finally tell them we are not interested, the rep leaves the room and says she'll be back with our 'free gifts'. After a few minutes, she comes back empty-handed and asks...'Have you changed your minds?'. We say 'no' and suddenly her attitude towards us totally changes. She then takes us to another room and is almost nasty. She fills out the free hotel stay form and the shopping spree and says that's it (being very unfriendly). I then say 'What about our $15 dinner certificate'. She fills out another form and no thank you for your time. I'm glad we decided not to sign-on.

What a bunch of baloney.I have been a member of Sundance for 10 years. Not only do I enjoy their vacations but so do my children.I joined them in their Parsippany office and came in for a giveaway to the Jersey shore.I hardly remember that trip but every trip we have taken with them has been top shelf. We paid 10000 for 30 vacations and they even offered us 0 interest for half down.WE have been to Myrtle Beach,Dominican,Cancun and have accomadations that were much lower then if we booked them ourselves.I also checked into the BBB of NJ,and at there headquarters in Maryland. They have zero unresolved complaints.Their people treated us with respect and have always been friendly and worked out everydetail.I think you people need to separate the bonuses for coming in with the vacation packages they offer.Pretty sad to see such a fine company trashed without looking into them.Did'nt you people realize they were selling something before you went in? I did!!.Sorry it was'nt for you but this has been one of the best things I ever did for my family.

This scam thread really bothered me so I contacted the BBB and TAN by phone this morning. Not only has it reaffirmed my belief in our purchase but found some interesting facts.Do you know that this company won an award from the BBB for its "customer service"?.Having used them so often I understand why.Do you know that they have over 50000 members and zero unresolved complaints?.I have a business of my own and I can tell you Ive had some complaints.People in NJ are tough and I can't imagine that record. So it seems that this SCAM ,TALK ABOUT AN EXAGERATION,is related to there invitation to get you in.Has anybody not gotten their gift?.Does anybody have any expectation that a salesperson will thank them for their time? A little utopia if you ask me.I also did the math,We take about 2 vacations a week,2 or more weekends a year.As mentioned before we have been pleased with their accomadations.Lets see I paid 10000 for 30 vacations equals 333 per vacation, add in the 219 per year for their membership,99 for a booking fee equals about 650 for 7 nights in a condo.Thats a little over 90 per night for a CONDO.I dont know how many of you have been to the Jersey shore but Ive paid 2-2.5 times more then that for a beat up room. After we travel Travel Advantage always checks to make sure they are happy. Now the weekends we have taken are an even bigger bargain. We pay under 200 no matter how many nights we stay. They E mail us a list every week and have even offered us weeks for under 99 dollars for a week.
As far as their gifts,my wife says we never got around to taking it.We went to a presentation in the Poconos years ago and they offered a projection screen TV,it turned out to be cardboard.THAT MY FRIENDS IS A SCAM!!.Its a shame that some of the whiners here may stop people from at least hering what they have to offer.maybe they would find like us that it was a great deal.

I cannot agree with you more. I happened to fill out a form for a draw at an expo to win a porche (yes, they say it is a porche), and then two weeks later, they began to call me. They first told me on the phone that I haven¡¯t not won the porche yet, and still in the run, but I DID WIN a free 2-nights, 3-day stay at one of their over 500 Mariott resorts. And then they called about every week and told me the same crap. I told them that I have been pretty busy and don¡¯t have time, and then they said they will contact me in a few weeks, which they did. This time, to give me the impression that their offers are popular, I guess, the lady who called told me that the Mariott Offer has been TOTALLY claimed, but they would like to extend me a different offer. (by they way, after they called me two or three times, they have ¡°forgotten¡± that they still have me in the run for a porche, which, in retrospect, is totally a scam in the first place). My wife and I are planning to have a vacation anyway, so, we decided to check it out. So when the lady called again, I told her that we would go for the presentation, and then they gave us a confirmation number. At the end of the phone call, the lady told me that they would give me an extra $15 dinner certificate for us to show up their presentation at 10:00 am Saturday morning (12:00 noon, 2pm and 4pm presentations don¡¯t have the $15 dinner certificate, she said). She also said, ¡°it is just a one hour presentation, and there is no one on one sales crap¡±. So, my wife and I went to their office and were presented their ¡°wonderful¡± vacation package for about 15 minutes. Then, all those sale people rushed in the room, each with a name in their hands, and began the one on one presentation their own staff called ¡°crap¡±. They first told you that normally a vacation cost $1000 on average, and 30 vacations will cost $30,000, and their package costs only half of that. That¡¯s not it. For signing up today, we give you $4,000 discount, which makes it $11,000 for 30 vacations, and that¡¯s $366.67 on average. And they will give you a $1000 shopping spree, which is only available at a website (http://www.keshoppingspree.com/), and you can get a $1000 worth of stuff for a ¡°small handling and shipping fee¡±. How small? They never say. Also, you have to provide a ¡°pass code¡± before you can even have a look at their stuff. We decided that it is too much for us since we have only 12 days of vacation each year, and sales person said ¡°hold on for a second¡± and then brought in their ¡°supervisor¡±. That guy told us that he can offer us 15 vacations, with two bonus ones, for $7000, and we pay only $700 today, and they¡¯ll finance the remaining (with a 12 ½ per cent charge, which they did not tell us until I grabbed a calculator and began to crunch the numbers). My wife and I did some calculations, and decided it was still too much for us (we can only take 2, at the most, weeks away on a long vacation). The sale person did the same trick and brought in their ¡°supervisor¡±. This time, the guy said he can offer me 6 vacations for $3000, and he could further discount the price by $150, which makes it $2850 for 6 vacations, and he would throw two extra in, and make it $2850 for 8 vacations. Seeing that we were still reluctant, the ¡°supervisor¡± offered us 0% interest rate provided that we put half down, so my wife and I decided to take it. We were excited about this (after about 3 hours) and began to plan our vacation to Europe immediately. (By the way, we did ask them whether the vacations are available in Europe and Asian, the sale person confirmed that they offer vacations ¡°anywhere¡± in the world!). It turned out that we were presented the wrong information. They have discontinued their European vacation for some time now, and they have never offered Asian vacations. During the presentation, the sale person showed us some information ¡°that is only accessible through a private web address with password¡±, turned out to be publicly accessible at http://www.planwithtan.com. We are going to fight to cancel this.

Oh, please not that they are now Sunquest Vacations, and their headquarters are now in PA.

BE AWARE!!!!!!

Some more misinformation from powerapple. You have once again seen that the salespeople worked with him to find something affordable. They are trying to save you money on YOUR VACATIONS!!!Why not take one and see how good it is.Their headquarters has always been in Wilkes Barre Pa.They are called Sundance in some areas and sunquest in others but it is the same company and as I mentioned before THEY ARE THE BEST!!!I am a satisfied customer for 10 years, geeze just stay home and book your trips through Liberty Travel at retail, talk about a scam.As far as their sales policy they are out to make a profit, their product is good, and the only ones who seem to complain are those who dont join.Did you think that this company just gives away free trips?man get a life.

Also some more credibility from the previous poster.I called their headquarters in wilkes barre to ask about the Porche. It has not been drawn yet but they have given away a Hummer and a Lexus and will be happy to give you the name of the winners. BE AWARE of those who dont know what they are talking about. We just booked a trip with this company for Hiton Head in September, try to get the deal we got 188 for 7 nights.thats 27 per night for a condo for 4.O yea this is a scam, give me a break!!

Yep, you give ME a break!! They are a for-profit company and there is nothing wrong to make money. You say that ¡°the sale people worked to find something affordable¡±. Ok, why not just give me all your options and let me choose? Why not let me know all your and conditions before I signed the contract?? First $11,000 for 30; then $7,000 for 17; and then $2850 for 8. Can you imagine that if you go to BestBuy to buy a plasma TV, and a sales associate first offer you $5000, then you said it is too expensive and they sell you for $3000? Also, if they wanted to sell me some affordable vacations, why lied to me about the fact that they have stopped offering vacations in Europe and they have never done Asia before??? Why they told me a ¡°$30 dollar for upgrade¡± is $30 PER VACATION which turned out to be 30 PER NIGHT? You give me an answer!! What¡¯s more, they also used the ¡°today only¡± crap to press you to make a decision, and they ask you to check ¡°NO¡± on a form that asks a question ¡°Are you under pressure when you sign this contract¡±? You may get a better deal for it since now the ¡°excess inventory¡± cost $198 instead of $188 and the annual membership fee is $319. PLUS, once you sign the contract, you can not cancel it for whatever reason. Again, if you go to BestBuy and buy your $3000 flat panel tv, and then you find you don¡¯t really like it and BestBuy said you cannot return it since you¡¯ve signed the sales slip(it is a form of contract)??? Of course you can say you paid 188 for 7 nights, but have you done the math with all your membership fee, your package (what ever it is) average, and all the processing fee? In my case, we signed a $2850 for 8 deal. If we take one regular and one excess inventory, it is about 450 each; if we take two regular ones, it will be about 620 each. With all the membership fee and processing fees, you tell me how to get a $188 vacation for 7 nights??

Contact TAN.With your membership they should have given you a form to fill out to include all of your relatives. They can pick from the same list, they call it "excess inventory" as you can.If they take any of them it is 99 +89=188.They do not have to pay the annual fee, just you. This gives you a right for all your family members to take these weeks. It was one of the first day benefits.Good luck,I hope you enjoy them.

The fact of the matter is that they do not come down in price on the same program, they reduce the number of weeks.Even though I bought 30 vacations,my married son bought a 10 week package.Did'nt they offer you their weekly specials for 188 dollars for up to 7 nights?.You have'nt even taken a vacation with them but you call them a scam. That is a stretch!!My family and I have recommended so many of our friends to this company and we all vacation with them, and they have been curtious and always have been assuring. In fact you failed to mention that they guarantee their vacations, yes even the 188 dollar ones.We never felt pressured even though they offered us a first day offer,in fact they said we could come back if we did not want the first day benefits.
Im sorry I dont mean to offend you but this is the finest company I have ever worked with.Lets look at your own words:
If we take one regular and one excess inventory, it is about 450 each; if we take two regular ones, it will be about 620 each.
620 each divided by 7 nights equals under 90 per night for a freaking condo.Where can you get a deal like that? Also all of my relatives receive the weekly special list and every one of them take vacations for 188 for 7 nights. They pay no annual fee,no other charges.
O yea you also asked about the 30 per night peak season rate.Have you never seen the rates others charge? My wife and I wanted to go to Lake George for July 4th.The best rate we could find for a motel is 275 PER NIGHT,but if we wait till after the holiday it is 89 for the same room.Gee maybe this motel is a scam.
Enough said this company is not a scam it is a bargain. However for those who need it:
WARNING THIS COMPANY IS IN THE BUSINESS OF SELLING YOU SOMETHING.IN FACT YOU MAY WIND UP PAYING WHOLESALE FOR ALL YOUR FUTURE VACATIONS.WHEN YOU GO IN FOR YOUR GIFT THEY MAY SHOW YOU HOW TO SAVE MONEY.IF THEY ARE MAKING TOO MUCH SENCE YOU MAY ACTUALLY GULP BUY SOMETHING THAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MAY ENJOY.THEN FEEL FREE TO BASH THE COMPANY THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT,OR MAYBE STAY HOME.
O also Mr apple be careful in Europe, they barter for everything. Then again you can always call them a scam.
