You most definitely will want to run your credit reports to make sure they don't have a negative posting listed. By law, you can now get a free report from each credit bureau annually.

I would not go as far to writing this if something did not bother me as much as this experience has. I walked in and was treated with respect until I said no to there offer and explaiend to them that I had other plans for my money. After that they totally changed and treated me like a loser. To me religion has nothing to do with this matter.

Wow! It didn't take you long to see through some of the entries in here. You are absolutely right that being a Christian has nothing to do with it, except when the reps. are claiming to be one, look you in the eye and lie to you; or as you said, treat you differently when you say no. Anyway, my hats off to those who are helping others out. Hopefully, more will check on these companies (TAN, Sundance, Sunstream, Sunquest) BEFORE they actually go to a "one-hour" presentation. The more I remember about our experience, the more lies come to surface. I am self-employed part-time and deal with people all the time. You become a lot more successful when you are up front with someone than when you try to paint a beautiful picture that's all grey underneath.

Unless you are upper middle class or upper class, I don't know of many who can take 30 vacations plus the overages they show you after the presentation. It costs $11,000 for 30 vacations plus interest (unless you give them the whole thing right away), plus $319 annually for maintenance, plus $99 each time you vacation, plus extras for peak time, plus $198 if you decide to use any of their excess spots. The costs just don't seem to justify themselves, especially when you consider that you haven't yet added travel expenses.

I cannot believe I'm actually writing this...I agree with you. The entry from that one young [punk] was pretty bad. One of the reasons I am self-employed is so I don't have to deal with people like him. If he swears while he writes, I can only imagine the words that come out of his mouth.

Even though your experience has been a good one and you claim not be an employee or affiliated with Sundance, you seem to be in the minority on this site. As an American, I respect your right to express your feelings. You should also show others that same respect. I wish you many more years of happy traveling!

The young punk is actually a young punk and was venting my frustration with this experience. You can call me young, dumb, whatever you want-I could care less. Some people are real with you and some people are fake. I hope you are able to see the difference. O and what comes out of my mouth is uter anger expressing it in the form of profanity- welcome to America. Good luck.

Hmmmmm, interesting. Now, if as some of these defenders vociferously state, that Sundance is so legit and ethical, why do you think they are calling you about copies of correspondences that you sent to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

I’ll tell you why. Because in Pennsylvania, when such a purchase (Timeshare/Vacation Club membership) is made, the merchant is required by law, not only to advise you of your 3-day right of cancellation, but to have you sign a disclosure attesting to the fact that you were dutifully notified of that right! In your case, the contract specifically DENIES you that right – that’s out and out ILLEGAL, but it WILL be rectified!

Did you check your PM again? Attachments are too big for this site, even though my document wasn't that big. I'll await your reply. As I stated to you before, there are some other questionable paragraphs within the document. Hindsight IS better. My husband said we should have walked out the minute he saw one rep. go after another man and try to pull him back into her office. In all the years I worked with the public, nobody ever taught me to do that to anyone, especially a prospective customer!

Alright. I'm not posting to be attacked, instead, I'm doing so to try to help anyone who signed on and wants out. So, Jusme, Flow-dude, keep your comments to yourself. Of course you won't, but don't worry, I'll ignore you.

I had tried doing research before going to the scam, er, presentation. The name they use out in Chicago is "Sunquest Vacations", and couldn't find anything on them, and they don't tell you they are affiliated with TAN. They must not want you to do any research!

Am I an idiot, stupid person, etc...? No. Did I fall for this, and sign on? Yep.
I walked out w/ a lower vacation package, with 0% interest. They even threw in a 3 day Freeport, Grand Bahamas trip for 2. (I've decided not to take it, as that'll probably cost me something as well!)

When I got home, I started researching TAN, and everything I found, I didn't like. I had asked them about Europe, Austrialia, all sorts of places they said I travel to. They said they would work w/ me on Europe, and it wouldn't be a problem. Um, really? Because they have nothing in Europe or Australia.
I'm 29, and travel about 3-5 times a year. The only time I go for 7 days or more is when I go overseas.

***How to get out***
I called TAN (not Sunquest) the following Monday morning. I had purchased on a Saturday. I explained to them the high pressure tactics, and the lies I was told:
1. When first called, I asked why they were giving away the hotel/online spree, and they stated they were a new travel agency, and would like me to refer friends/family to them.
2. The places they told me I can travel, you can't!!!
3. The cost is just beyond rediculous. With all the planning you have to do for one of their weeks, do you realize you can plan 1/2 that time and get a trip w/ airfare for the same cost!!!

They offered to lower the cost, I declined, stating the obvious again of their mis-truths, and viola! My membership is canceled.

I think the funniest thing is that you can login to their homepage, and you do not need to be a member to purchase the excess inventory vacations. Also, go on ebay, timeshare beat, anywhere, and members are selling off their weeks in droves! So, there you have it. You can cancel, and move on to live your happy life!

Boy, I wish I'd have found this site before my wife and I decided to head down to TAN's Princeton office for the "presentation". Actually, on our phone conversation before the "presentation" we were told that we wouldn't even need to sit through anything, just come in, sign in and we'd receive meal vouchers at Macaroni Grill or Chili's or something. We signed in, and we were told that no, that was not correct, we would need to sit through the quick show, and THEN we could get our meal tickets and free 3 day 2 night vacations!!! 2 of them! Well, an hour and a half later, with glazed eyes and headaches, we found ourselves signing page after page of contracts and strange waivers saying we weren't pressured! I too thought that a bit odd, but was too tuckered out to protest.

Anyway, fast forward a couple of months. We try to use our "free" three day two night vacations, and slowly we discover the fees, limitations and other garbage that goes along with them. Calling TAN, we are told that the company they bought the incentive packages from has been out of business for a while because of unethical business practices! She didn't elaborate, but tried to assuage our anxiety by offering us free dues for one year and an extra free week with TAN. We relented and started trying to book a vacation for next year (2006). Navigating the TAN website wasn't the most pleasant experience in the world... but we eventually got the hang of it, and found out that virtually ANY plausible vacation we had in mind would entail a 30 dollar "Peak season" fee. Oh, that's 30 dollars a night, by the way. Times six nights... equals 180 extra dollars a week. WTF? Nobody at their smiley wax teeth sales cannon meeting told us about this! Who wants to vacation in the Caribbean between July and October?! It's HURRICANE SEASON then!!! Same goes for visiting Utah's ski resorts in August or Delaware's (admittedly very nice) beaches in February?!!?

Anyway, the more vacations we tried to book, the more fees kept mounting up. The process of actually GETTING a vacation booked is far more aggravating than it's worth. Overall, I'd agree with the more negative comments on this site. The tactics they use to get you in their door are certainly unethical. The tactics they use once you are IN the door are brutish, pushy, agressive and again, unethical. Perhaps that IS their job... heck, people in the government are just as unethical, and they too are "just doing their job." That's not an excuse. Finally, the product they deliver is far more limited than that which they advertise in ALL their collateral. They have numerous affiliate destinations in Branson, Missouri and other dilapidated podunk towns... and that's great for some people. In fact, I'm sure that this company DOES in fact have thousands of satisfied customers who have taken super-swell vacations... But I must say that everything about them has left a sour, bitter, nasty taste in my and my wife's mouth.

I am deeply disappointed in my entire experience with this company. I am now locked into a binding contract that I want no part of. If anyone has any method of escaping this stranglehold they have on my wallet (even though we now bought this package well over a year ago, and have used ZERO, nor do we plan to) please let me know. And if you're considering attending one of these "presentations" do so at your own risk. If you can afford it, and you want to vacation mainly in the US, and are willing to jump through dozens of ridiculous hoops to book your vacations, then you may very well be extremely pleased with TAN. If you're like me, and you want variety, quality, simplicity, flexibility and a company that cares about your satisfaction, don't go with TAN.
